This week has been difficult for many reasons but the one that stands out is death. My boyfriend lost his sister to cancer this week and it made me realize that life is too short. I have not been taking my health seriously and since I have a family history of several ailments, I need to get serious! Diabetes, high blood pressure, asthma, and anxiety/depression runs in my family. For years, I have wanted to lose weight BUT never really took it seriously. I was like YOLO (you only live once) let me go ahead and eat what I want. That has to stop.
One of my biggest issues is sweets. My grandma has had diabetes for decades and she always tells me "Tiffany, you need to slow down on the sweets before you end up like me". Now, whether or not that is really the case (I am not sure what studies show), she is right. Just yesterday, I ate two pieces of cakes, a huge super rich chocolate bar, a few muffins, a danish, and sweet tea. I definitely have a problem!
Well, one of my coworkers told me about Noom a little while ago. I know you have seen the ads on Facebook! LOL! She had a lot of success with it! I believe she had lost like 30 lbs already after a few months (but don't quote me). She explained that it creates behavior change and gets into the psychology of things. If you know me, that's right up my alley! Just look at how much I talk about emotions and money! I have tried many diets so I was skeptical. In the past, I've tried Weight Watchers and My Fitness Pal. I had success with both, sometimes up to 50 lbs lost, but it obviously didn't stick! I am the textbook case of a yo-yo dieter.
I decided to reach out to Noom because I am like I can document my journey as part of my blog and as I try it out throw some links up so it's a win-win situation. They agreed and provided me with a free membership for a few months to try it out. I am very excited to get started. I hope that it facilitates the mindset change I need. I have never wanted to do something so bad.
Today starts a new day! If you want to join me, they have a 14-day free trial you can try out just to see if it works for you. I'm excited! Let's go!
